Ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a “Bhoomi Pujan” on August 5, 2020, to mark the construction of the massive Ram Mandir, the city of Ayodhya has undergone a significant makeover.

The temple trust has sent invitations to more than 7,000 guests, including Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan and cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans to attend the grand celebration at the temple, for which the city is preparing.

Here’s the schedule for the main event.

Today will signal the beginning of the consecration ceremony procedures. Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, the host selected by the temple trust, will lead the atonement ritual. The ‘Dashvidh’ bath, Vishnu worship, and cow offering will occur on the banks of the Saryu river.

January 17

A procession carrying the idol of Ram Lalla will arrive in Ayodhya. Devotees carrying Saryu water in Mangal Kalash will reach the Ram Janmabhoomi shrine.

January 18

The ceremonial ceremonies will commence with the Ganesh Ambika Puja, Varun Puja, Matrika Puja, Brahmin Varan, and Vastu Puja.

January 19

When the holy fire starts, they will establish a ‘havan’ (holy ritual around the fire) and a ‘Navagraha’.

January 20

They will perform the Vaastu Shanti and ‘Annadhivas’ rites, then cleanse the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple with Saryu water on January 20.

January 21

They will finally inter the Ram Lalla idol after submerging it in 125 urns.

January 22

More than 100 chartered airplanes will deliver the invited guests to the ceremony in Ayodhya. They expect a ritual to attract devotees from 150 different nations on the last day. The ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ritual and the consecration of the god Ram Lalla will occur from 12:30 to 1 pm.

The temple will not be open for worshipers on January 21 and 22; it will be open again to the public on January 23.
